Who We Are
Sustainable Food Institute of America is the non-profit organization born from the work of Beyond Green Partners.
We are coaches.
Our coaching model empowers foodservice staff with the skills and tools to implement scratch-cooking programs featuring fresh and local ingredients.
We focus on what matters.
-
Leadership
We understand that change is hard. In order to effect change, strong leadership at every level of the organization is essential. That’s where we come in.
-
Scratch Cooking
Scratch cooking means cooking meals that incorporate whole, fresh ingredients, rather than processed meals and meal components.
-
Local Food
Local food is fresher and benefits the local economy. Local food programs help connect students to source and support healthy eating.
-
Waste Reduction
In order to maintain a cost-neutral program, we implement systems for measuring and tracking overproduction waste to control food and labor costs.
Our Mission
To guide institutions toward sustainable foodservice operations that serve fresh, local, and scratch-cooked food, support the health and wellbeing of individuals, and support local farmers.
Our Vision
Dreaming a new dream for a world that works for everyone and everything through a program focused on integrity, accountability, and leadership.
Our Values
-
Provide fresh, high-quality meals that support health and performance across institutions.
-
Ensure meal programs are cost-effective, scalable, and financially viable.
-
Strengthen local economies by sourcing locally and empowering foodservice staff.
